Hi, I’m Cameron Brown and I’ve been working as a Psychologist on the Gold Coast since 2008 in a range of treatment settings from inpatient drug and alcohol facilities to private practice.
I love working with people who experiencing anxiety, depression and phobias, assisting them in their journey towards recovery and working on building back to their ideal life. My work is primarily in assisting you to understand any issues that are arising for you and working with you to find solutions or answers that help you reach the values you set. I work with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and also follow the works of Existential therapists such as Irvin Yalom.
I completed my education and training in Queensland (Griffith and QUT) and a few of my roles have been:
- Inpatient addiction treatment on the Gold Coast
- Inpatient mental health and addiction treatment in Thailand
- Program development for outpatient settings for addiction and related disorders
- Private practice in Burleigh, Elanora and Mudgeeraba (since 2011)
In my time away from practice I like to travel, bushwalk and play boardgames and I am a Newcastle Knights tragic.
Treatment Approach
Insite Psychology is run by Gold Coast Psychologist Cameron Brown with the aim to treat mental wellbeing from a multi-faceted approach, addressing psychological and psychosocial issues. Treatment is primarily based on the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and involves regular exercises and homework to ensure that your needs are met on an ongoing basis.
In saying the above, the role of a Psychologist is to meet you where you are at in life, so if these approaches are uncomfortable we can always look at different ways of working together.
Insite Psychology Gold Coast is able to offer face to face therapy sessions at Elanora and Mudgeeraba in addition to telehealth and online sessions anywhere in Australia.
